At least four people killed in bow and arrow attack in Norway
- GaryTang 5y agoAs part of its goal of rehabilitating and reintegrating criminals into society — the maximum punishment in Norway is 21 years.
- rednerrus 5y agoThat's a long time if they're actually working to rehabilitate prisoners.
- GaryTang 5y agoFrom eesmith: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_imprisonment_in_Norway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_imprisonment_in_Norway > The indeterminate penalty (civilian penal code), called "preventive detention" (Norwegian: forvaring), is set at up to 21 years' imprisonment, with no eligibility for parole for a time period not exceeding 14 years. If the prisoner is still considered dangerous after serving the original sentence, the detention can be extended by five years at a time. Renewal of the detention every five years can in theory result in actual life imprisonment. So it can actually be longer.

- literallyaduck 5y agoQuotes from the article: "The suspect, whose age and identity police declined to disclose" “It is natural to consider whether it is an act of terrorism. But the man has not been questioned and it is too early to come to any conclusion.”
- tveyben 5y agoHmm - according to the danish news, he was questioned from 2.30 in the morning. Also he’s a Dane (37 years old and danish+norwegian parents). NB.: What’s a weird coincidence is that a danish comedy about a man shooting with bow and arrow against Norwegian police should have premiered these days have been postponed.
