Photoshop blocks opening banknote images
- deleted 5y ago[deleted]
- shaftway 5y agoRelated: I've always wanted to get a T-Shirt with the EURion constellation printed all over it and see if there are any notable cases where images of me can't be opened.
- anitil 5y agoThis could be like the anti-paparazzi retroreflective scarves that celebrities wear to hide their faces
- MerelyMortal 5y agoThe t-shirt printers may not be able to open it or print it with their equipment, you might have to make it yourself.

- agumonkey 5y agoalso slightly related the artile 'Moire no more'
- mort1merp0 5y agoAnother way is to use software without such limitations. Gimp comes to mind. Some others are listed here: https://methodshop.com/photoshop-money/ https://methodshop.com/photoshop-money/
- treeman79 5y agoTried to save money 20 years by using gimp instead of photoshop. As I wanted to be a graphic artist. I spent so much time installing and compiling Linux that I ended up with a programming career. I also now use macs. https://xkcd.com/963/ https://xkcd.com/963/
- accarrino 5y agoThis is such a ridiculous restriction
- anaganisk 5y agoGimp is no where near to be an alternative to photoshop. I understand its an open source and free software, but I would rather prefer someone taking money and polishing the software for human usage. Affinity suite is much more recommendable. It offers a lifetime license and is actually a polished and alternate software with most of the feature parity.
- YungMoolah 5y agoRelated Google Groups discussion from 18 years ago, which claims it's related to the US Counterfeit Detection Act of 1992: https://groups.google.com/g/comp.periphs.printers/c/-qgA_pGEWLk/m/tZfO_pr3qcMJ?hl=en&pli=1 https://groups.google.com/g/comp.periphs.printers/c/-qgA_pGE...
- armchairhacker 5y agoSeems like a much better idea is to have some kind of imperceptible "this is forged" symbol on the saved file and anything exported. Even a dumb criminal could get around this with another photo-editing application. With the latter they'll get caught and not understand how. And legitimate uses like the author's aren't affected.
- RattleyCooper 5y agoWhat a bunch of jellyfish
- t0bia_s 5y agoI'm curious when Adobe start blocking copyrighted material, ie logos.
- illwrks 5y agoNothing new here. If I remember correctly they were doing similar 15 years ago when I was in university. There was a way around it, although I can't remember the details. I was doing a project on counterfeiting for a printing assignment and needed to go through the motions.
