Coal is 'king' as gas prices soar – and it's backfiring on cleaner energy goals
- ZeroGravitas 5y agoCEO says "buy more of the thing I sell, not things that compete with me" has an information content of zero.
- bryan0 5y agoYeah I think the article is more useful if you ignore what the CEO says, but instead reference the stats: > Coal-produced electricity has shot up in Europe, and European coal futures have more than doubled since the start of the year.... Gas prices in Europe, meanwhile, have nearly quadrupled since the start of the year. "
- aaron695 5y agoNothing is backfiring. We know the way forward. Gas, pumped hydro, international networked grids and nuclear to support other emerging tech. The religious followers of the environment industrial complex have objected to these. Burn baby burn. Better water world than this religious world. It's an evil religion that cares nothing for the billions of true poor. Remember coal powered cars ( not the ones during WW2 ) let's work on getting these back - https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gm-coal-powered-turbine-chrysler-leno-ecojet/ https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gm-coal-powered-turbine-c... We do need more efficient and cheaper coal plants along with PM2.5 reductions. This is what to work on.
- andrekandre 5y ago> He added that this is not merely a European gas crisis, but a global one, stemming from both a “huge hike in demand for gas from China and Asia,” whats the source and reason for this "hige spike" ?
