Walgreens to Close Five San Francisco Stores on Shoplifting
- ZanyProgrammer 5y agoDidn't SF have a ridiculous number of Walgreens stores at some point several years ago? Like aside from the issue of shoplifting, could they really afford that many stores in such a small area?
- Grakel 5y agoWhen governments decide not to punish criminals, this is what happens. Next step is the area is declared a food and services "desert" and lots of welfare funds are allocated because the greedy capitalists won't serve these vibrant neighborhoods.
- dragonwriter 5y ago> Next step is ...that the Mayor makes a deal with the police wherein the police will notionally do at least a bit more of the job that they have been refusing to do as a political protest of downstream aspects of the criminal justice process. The weird thing in the US is that we have stronger civilian control of the actual military deployed against foreign enemies than of the paramilitary law enforcement deployed in the US.
