The most interesting quotes from Steve Jobs are when he was at NeXT
- rektide 5y ago"The desktop computer industry is dead. Innovation has virtually ceased. Microsoft dominates with very little innovation. That's over. Apple lost. The desktop market has entered the dark ages, and it's going to be in the dark ages for the next 10 years, or certainly for the rest of this decade." Apple did manage to un-lose, semi-congrats on that. But innovation still seems to me, here, two decades later, dead as a doornail. Personal computing has not changed much at all. There's tweaks, re-skins, re-shuffles, but the general practice is still the same. Use a launcher to launch applications, live in an app, alt-tab to another app. We've done little to really make users more powerful, more creative, more enabled at any kind of platform level.

It was a commercial failure, and it can hardly be called influential, save for its legacy that lives on in Apple products. I'd love to hear what made NeXT so significant (apart from being Steve Jobs' company).
