Upon further investigation, it seemed he created a new account to edit the article further. At a glance, the edit history looks like someone hired a PR firm to have this article created. Which is one of Wikipedia's biggest problems; paid promotional content.
- tosh 5y agoInteresting, thank you for highlighting that. Is there an easy way to get context like this (e.g. a browser extension?) or do you check the talk/history tab?
- amin 5y agoIt's easy to me, but I've been a volunteer for half a decade. By clicking on "View history", we can scroll down and see wh first made the article, it's this user with the name "SearchFunds": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/SearchFunds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/SearchFu... We can see a red banner at the top, to indicate he was banned and also the reasons for teh ban. This user only contributed to this article. But from his actions and writing style, he seems to know his way around Wikipedia, indicating that he probably has a few years of experience (under other sock puppet accounts). Hope this helps.
