I'm still hearing the opposite opinion from one older programmer I know, who's supporting a Cobol system right now. They get headaches just opening the Cobol editor. But extremely eager to jump off that project and move to a shiny new Java project. They don't care what will happen to that Cobol system, for all they care it may just burn in flames (taking a big bank with it).
