The example written in urllib2 instantly reminds me of Java and the classy query joke [http://ejohn.org/blog/classy-query/ http://ejohn.org/blog/classy-query/]. Just a thought: are most Java-related APIs over-engineered, and does Java have a bad influence on many API design work?
