As someone who has had shingles in my left eye for the last 4 years, I can tell you it's not something to mess around with. I didn't get the vaccine because everyone kept telling me to get it when I turned 60. Unfortunately, it decided to come out when I was 57. I'm still on steroid eyedrops and take 2g of antiviral medicine every day to keep it somewhat in check.
