Notepad is one of the most underestimated app for Windows!
Unlike TextEdit on Mac, no rich text format support, so it can be used as an "input sanitizer": reverse copy-paste (paste then copy) in Notepad your HTML copy from Edge to get a clean ASCII text out.
Of course, there are more clever ways to do that, like configuring Edge to do that directly. But Notepad never fails, and it works with everything else too (Word...)
I only wish Notepad would automatically save to some scratch file database, as I have lost some Notepad quick notes on a crash!
(A standalone theme would also help, as I use Notepad a bit like the Stickers app)

You can also configure it to make all new files plain text by default. But on macOS you usually don't need to round-trip your clipboard contents through a text editor, because you can hold down shift and option when pasting to make it a "Paste and Match Style" operation.
- csdvrx 5y agoOn MacOS, I thought TextEdit default to RTF, so the round-trip dance would involve Cmd-Shift-T before the reverse copy paste. But if there's a default now, great! > because you can hold down shift and option when pasting to make it a "Paste and Match Style" operation. And the same option is starting to appear on Windows, but personally I don't want to depend on the whims of some software I don't control, while the reverse copy-paste through Notepad works 100% of the time! (I guess I could set an AHK shortcut if I really cared)
