Covid response ‘one of UK’s worst ever public health failures’
- dTal 5y ago>Prof Trish Greenhalgh, of the University of Oxford, said the report hinted at a “less than healthy relationship” between government and its scientific advisory bodies. No shit. That's been abundantly clear since at least 2009, when David Nutt was fired - from his position of chairman of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs - for publicly holding the radical opinion that the legal status of drugs should reflect the harm that they do. The following astonishing justification was given: "he cannot be both a government adviser and a campaigner against government policy". That tells you everything you need to know about the UK government's attitude to scientific advice.
