Strange, I find eBay when filtered to UK sellers gives me a good experience. Usually no postage charge and I get the item in a few days. I don't have Amazon Prime so the experience is about the same for me. For anything I need immediately, I check out Argos, Screwfix or Toolstation. Sometimes I'll walk at lunchtime to the local hardware store if I want to check the item in person against say a rusted piece. But, not everyone has that option.
