I don't think TikTok is the story here. We are in an age where a powerful digital force can arise and dominate people's time and attention, in a short number of years. And our existing government, legal, and regulatory structures are not adapted to this reality.
- jpster 5y agoI disagree. To me TikTok is the story because it illustrates exactly what you point out: gov, legal, regulatory structures lagging behind. If social media is a big risk to Americans, then it seems unacceptable that TT goes unexamined. It has been around for three or four years already. How they respond (or not) to TT can be a sign of whether politicians are serious or just grandstanding over the usual suspects.
