> NYC Developer Dilemma https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4 This resonates a lot with me, as I decided, as a fresh computer engineer grad circa 2006, to choose Wall Street over other places. With the GFC unfolding over the next 2 years, the incredible rise of tech, the emergence of mobile computer, the iPhone, etc... the money and power clearly shifted very quickly to the West Coast. I think NYC is still definitely not startup friendly due to the high costs - but maybe its a little less "irresponsible" than when the 2006 blog was written.
