I saw a documentary a few years back analyzing why hydrogen vehicles havent caught on yet. All the major auto companies had working fuel cells of internal combustion prototypes for 20 years. One villain was Obamas energy secretary Steven Chu who emphasized battery R&D at the expense of alternatives. The other was was Elon Musk who denigrated every alternative to electric vehicles, whether there was merit or not. I dont know how valid these arguments are. I believe the documentary was called At War with the Dinosaurs.
