The good thing about "no one on $site is an extremist" is that there's a pretty clear way to disprove it: find one specimen.
https://patriots.win/p/13zg9agFHB/instead-of-eliminating-hundreds-/c/ https://patriots.win/p/13zg9agFHB/instead-of-eliminating-hun... promotes some myth about "the government wanting to eliminate 1e6 to 1e9 american workers" and proposes to "eliminate politicians" instead.
Comments by the OP in that thread clarify the direction this is supposed to take, responding to "The swamp in one picture" with "One Drone Strike".
Textbook extremism. (edit to add: or, as hunterb123 asserts, an edge lord. Since I don't know the site or user but hunterb123 apparently does, I'll take them by their word.)
- hunterb123 5y agoyour definition of an extremist is certainly lax isn't it? I'd designate someone an extremist if they were plotting to do something, not some edgy comment that you'd find anywhere. There's hundreds of comments on reddit wishing death, that doesn't make those people "extremists".
- pgeorgi 5y agoAh, the edgelord defense, a Tried and True practice. One issue is that the entire thread is _only_ edgelords in that model. I couldn't find anybody on that page speaking out against the ideas espoused by the poster. As for "comment that you'd find anywhere", I know a few places where I wouldn't find such comments. Not because oh-the-oppression, but because people don't engage with them in the same way as on that page. It's possible shape a culture and that site seems to have chosen one that is easily being mistaken for extremism, at the very least.
- hunterb123 5y agoOn Reddit they have an entire subreddit for making fun of people's death. Reddit is the edgelord's gala. Anytime a Republican got sick, they'd wish for them to die throughout the front page.
- pgeorgi 5y agoSo we're not arguing if any service is about free speech and how that pertains to extremism, but only which kind of edgelord is worse? Boring.
- hunterb123 5y agoSo you admit we are comparing two edge lords from opposing sides of the political spectrum. Thank you. You started this by mis-categorizing an edge lord as an "extremist".
- pgeorgi 5y agoI don't know them, so if you assert that they're an edgelord and not an extremist, I can only imagine that you do know them. Lacking any other information, and given a relative unimportance of that person to me, I'll take your word on that. Given the time you devote on the defense of that community, it's certainly more important to you than it is to me.
- hunterb123 5y agoIf you don't know them how did you assert they were an extremist in your original comment? An extremist is likened to a terrorist, you need to have evidence other than some edgelord comment, otherwise they are just an edgelord. Until proven otherwise you should assume they are the same as Reddit edgelords (actually most of them ARE or WERE Reddit edgelords!) I'm not defending one community in particular, I'm defending everyone's right to be in the community they want without being dehumanized as some sort of monster racist.
- pgeorgi 5y agoIf it quacks like a duck...

- hluska 5y agoBullshit. It’s generally acknowledged by everyone whose IQ exceeds their shoe size, that wishing death upon politicians is extremism. Stop defending this kind of shit - it’s not defensible no matter how much you clutch your pearls and whine about your freedumb.
- hunterb123 5y agoSo if I find you one instance where someone wished death on Reddit that has +1 upvote (like this submission) you'll concede that Reddit is an extremist site right?
- pgeorgi 5y agoThe "one instance" thing only applies to that "patriots" site because you asserted "No one on [Patriots . win] is an extremist". It also doesn't show that the site is an "extremist site", only that your claim is wrong. Your statement about reddit is a logical fallacy.
- hunterb123 5y agoNo, the supposed qualification to be an "extremist" was asserted by another that it was "wishing death". I wish to apply that same standard to Reddit and see if it passes the same qualification to be "extremist" (it will). tldr: I still haven't been shown a post on Patriots that is more extreme than anything I've seen on Reddit.
- pgeorgi 5y agoYou're moving goal posts: The original statement of yours has been "no one on patriots is an extremist", classifying site users. Now you're at "you'll concede that Reddit is an extremist site right?", classifying the site itself.
- hunterb123 5y agoNo, I have an issue with how you quantify "extremist" that's been the whole point of the entire thread. You say it's anyone who "wishes death", well that is too loose because that pertains to every community on every site, including Reddit. Please try again with your definition of "extremist" and I will retest the communities.
