Sure you can, but the mount will crumble over time. For example, I tried pretty much everything from the post to attach IKEA towel rack (look up "GRUNDTAL"), and all of them started wobbling after few months of use (or abuse). Currently it's attached with toggle anchors, and the hole is completely crumbled. Try it yourself: find a piece of drywall, attach something with toggle anchors and start twitching it different directions.
