Mozilla has to make money somehow. From reading the article, this seems like a reasonable way to do it.

  They are open source and many people contribute for free. It is not right for them to profit from their browser and their management has shown time and time again that they don't even care that much about reinvesting in Firefox.

  They want to make money can start by stop pissing their loyal customer/user. Apple was saved predominantly by loyalist. Many others too. But Mozilla is doing weird, actively modifying their product to alienate their hardcore users. Just look at thier users base trajectory. I've used it since the day of Mosaic. Religiously flip over to it even when IE is the best. But alas, now I had to move away from it.
