Around that time I was forced to use MacOS 9 at work. It was terrible. The OS was very unstable and I had to reboot serveral times a day. This was one of the reasons a lot of companies were using Windows because it was way more productive (except for Windows ME). So I can imagine large companies would not trust OS X at that time and it would have been a big risk for Dell.
