With LabVIEW, I found the inability to use the git version control system extremely limiting, along with vendor lock-in/licensing and difficulty debugging VIs. Programming graphically has its merits, but I think for large organizations it ultimately becomes a huge headache when employed in production environments and that they would be better served by a text based programming language such as python. In my opinion, it works far better in lab environments and for rapid prototyping.
