US Government ordering Google to provide users’ search data: report
- ezekg 5y agovpn goes brrrrrrrrr But for real -- use a VPN. We all know where this is headed.
- Iolaum 5y agoA VPN doesn't do anything you use services that you log in to (and let's face it 99% of people are logged in to Google while doing searches there).
- greenyoda 5y agoEven if you don't log in to a Google account, Google can still log your searches by your IP address. Then a warrant can be served on your ISP to identify the user of the IP address. Using a VPN could protect you from that (although your VPN might be logging your real IP address too). A solution that does not require using a VPN is to use a search engine that does not log your searches or IP address. DuckDuckGo claims that they don't: "When you access DuckDuckGo (or any Web site), your Web browser automatically sends information about your computer, e.g. your User agent and IP address. Because this information could be used to link you to your searches, we do not log (store) it at all." https://duckduckgo.com/privacy https://duckduckgo.com/privacy
