I disagree on the details (e.g.: Jobs rejected the idea of an app store, it was forced on him by circumstances and even the iPhone was something that other directors on Apple fought hard to convince him). But your general idea is sound and it does make sense: he swam against the flow. Pixar is probably a better example, he struggled for years to find a sustainable business model for it.
