Never rename your Windows user account
- zelon88 5y agoThe correct way to do this is to create a new user with lusrmgr.msc and then use the User Profiles dialog "Copy To..." feature to copy the old profile to the new profile.
- Mup_TIpekpaceH 5y agowow)) didn't know there is such functionality. Thanks
- majora2007 5y agoDamn I could have used this a while ago. Now my user profile is all messed up and mispelled. Oh well.
- tszyn 5y agoApparently, "Copy To" no longer works on Windows 7 and higher. The button is greyed out for all user profiles except the "Default" profile. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e4cd5a0c-bb5e-4beb-94d3-4f2459d52cc1/greyed-out-quotcopy-toquot-in-user-profiles?forum=w8itprogeneral https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e4cd5a0c-b...
- DarthNebo 5y agoDid this once for macOS & never got VLC to work properly again since it kept caching the older username in some location & it was now unable to access some property...
- yetihehe 5y agoAlso, don't use spaces and don't use any special characters, only "[0-9a-z_-]". Diacritic characters in polish are handled wrong by so many apps, which is a shame, because "user" in polish is "użytkownik".
