My city’s library has done this for about 5 years. I definitely patronize the library more. Why have overworked librarians have to handle cash and face arguments? The data is clear that it has significantly boosted utilization without impacting hold times. Fine income accounted for less than 1% of a library’s budget. It just makes sense.
