Amazon is reportedly working on a smart fridge that tracks what’s inside

- chuckee 5y ago> If you run low on something you buy frequently, the fridge would notify you and make it easier to order more from Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh, which could give the company’s grocery division a boost. Just what we need, appliances helping their manufacturers muscle out independent groceries and take over a new market. And this is treated as normal - the article doesn't even point out that maybe, fridges should serve their owners first, and not be used as beachhead for Amazon to take over yet another market.
- kevinventullo 5y agoIf they want to make it easier to buy from Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh, the apps should actually list what’s available in store. Pretty much every grocery app I’ve used has told me that was something was out of stock or didn’t appear at all, but if I show up in person it is very much in stock. So I’ve just given up and do all my shopping in person.
- lokimedes 5y agoOh the smart fridge - once we have sufficiently boring eating habits this will be a boon. Next up: The always prefilled fridge, just buy what you eat (we’ll make sure to stock it with successively more addictive items based on our recommendation engine)
- devonbleak 5y agoI have the Samsung one and it's complete shit. Misidentifies everything and has no clue what's in there or how much of it.
