Regarding certain kinds of sex claims, there's probably a difference between what is technically illegal and what is actually prosecuted in a place like California. In one situation, a certain claim might be labeled as both brave and beautiful, and in another situation, the same kind of claim might be labeled as bigoted trolling. Regarding US racial statistics, I don't know if there's any kind of official document that enforces what "race" you are and everything is essentially self-reported, as far as I am aware.
