Hopefully the massive popularity will help bring light to this issue as it's not just Squid Game, it's a much bigger problem as localization issues are widespread in all sorts of media. I am fluent in three languages and watch international content with subtitles at home so that my wife can enjoy the content too, and from my experience, Netflix is one of the worst culprits at this. If I had to guess I'd say they hire the cheapest translation company available who then outsources their work on fiverr.
