As someone who worked in an organisation that was a part of both Panama Papers and Pandora Papers (I wasn't there during Paradise Papers), it's a gross overexaggeration.
Like it is the case now, the work was done by hundreds of journalists spread across dozens of media outlets around the world. It is true that one Maltese journalist that worked on it was killed and it is completely accurate to call her Panama Papers journalist, but calling her the "original leaker" is just inaccurate. She also went through decades of various forms of intimidation before Panama Papers came out. I'm not talking just about death threats, IIRC her pet was found killed, her house was broken into, etc.
For all I know, the original Panama Papers leaker was never identified beyond John Doe pseudonym, and is presumably still out there.
