The Dark Art of Displaying Deep-Sea Fish
- xyzzy_plugh 5y agoIndeed, for the Blobfish suffers a tormented fate as it's sea-level corpse is comical to the human population. Otherwise, a poor example of what the creature actually looks like. Imagine aliens in a ultra high density atmosphere trying to display humans in a museum. What's even more incredible is displaying deep-sea creatures in an aquarium, alive! I implore those who can to visit the Monterey Aquarium and talk to some of the staff. Truly incredible and challenging work they're doing. They're not always successful at keeping deep sea specimens healthy, but they humbly bring these beautiful creatures to our world for us to appreciate and learn from. Perhaps one day we can all simply visit the deep-sea instead.
- loonster 5y agoI would have appreciated a picture of the display. I have a strong sense of what I think it looks like, but would like a picture to be sure.
