It seems a pain point of static linking is that if a library changes you need to rebuild everyone Maybe a stupid idea but has there ever been thought of distributing applications with source code included? That way you could have a system that automatically rebuilds the application if a static library changes. Meaning when a user sees “updating” it’s actually rebuilding the app underneath.
