That works for me too, but I don't read. I try to imagine weird things, like flying cars, to kick off the dream state.

- bradknowles 5y agoFor me, it’s usually thinking about how my favorite RPG characters would deal with something that I saw or experienced that day. Since one of them is a large tiger-size cat that is also a dimension-hopping traveler and one of the most powerful psionics that their planet has ever produced, those kinds of thought experiments usually end up relating to recent super-powered movies I might have seen recently, or other super powered situations. For example, how to most easily kill Thanos without causing significant harm to anyone else. So, dumping a planetary core quantity of super compressed antimatter into the core of the planet, well that wouldn’t really be a useful way to solve the problem. And destroying the entire galaxy likewise would not be useful. And using a dimensional portal to drain a lake of liquid oxygen onto the field in front of Minas Tirith would have completely changed the nature of that battle. I usually have to add on the restriction that minimal force must be used when intervening in events, because the more force that is used, the more likely you are to attract unwanted attention from higher level immortal super beings that are also multi-dimensional travelers, and that’s something you don’t want to experience. Especially when you’re not immortal. And yes, I also have sleep apnea. Getting to sleep for me is … an involved process.
