Acetaminophen use during pregnancy and offspring ADHD
- mirekrusin 5y ago...or pain experienced for more than 28 days during pregnancy carries twofold increased risk for ADHD diagnosis in offsprings.
- phreeza 5y agoNote that this is mostly a negative result, pointing on the opposite direction, but not cited by, the other review currently on the front page.
- foobar1962 5y agoYes, from the title I was expecting a smoking gun. Edit to add: acetaminophen is also known as Paracetamol.
- LeifCarrotson 5y agoOr the brand name Tylenol. I'm glad they published the strong null hypothesis result! Too often only the higher-impact positive results get published.
- daneel_w 5y agoOr the brand name Alvedon. Or Panadol. Or Panodil. Tylenol is a bit "tricky" as it comes in lots of formulations mixed with other painkillers and stimulants, like caffeine and codeine (which metabolizes into morphine), but still sold under the same brand name.

- LeifCarrotson 5y agoIt's interesting and a bit unfortunate how medicines are sold by brand names. I think it's a bit regional. Here in the Midwestern US, if you ask for Tylenol they're going to give you acetaminophen. There's caffeinated Tylenol for headache relief, and anything containing codeine is going to be prescription-only. But a lot of people only seem to know the brand names - Tylenol, essentially, means acetaminophen, Motrin or Advil are ibuprofen, Sudafed for pseudoephedrine, Claritin for loratadine, etc. I will admit that the names developed by the marketing departments are easier to communicate, spell, and remember than those developed by organic chemists...
