Trump asks US judge to force Twitter to restore his account
- oblib 5y ago"They argue that Twitter is censoring Trump in violation of his First Amendment rights, according to the motion." I really do not see how anyone has any 1st Amendment rights to use a platform they do not own. Trump, like all of us, can run a server from his home or pay a service to host it if he wants and say pretty much anything he wants there, and he did try something similar. Twitter owes Trump nothing at all.
- Finnucane 5y agoOne could reasonably argue that there's too much concentration of power in the media (a process that started decades ago with conglomerates building portfolios of media companies), but as has been frequently noted in the past, freedom of the press belongs to those who own the press. It's not a first-amendment issue, it's a market issue, and antitrust issue. Of course, political leadership spent many years deliberately weakening the power of antitrust authorities, so they reap what they sow now.
