  Although here the specific combination of materials used is probably key to the thermal effect of fingers working so well? Or does the mica/water variant also show that?

I found this device extremely fascinating. Couldn't find one to buy though. I don't know how viscous are these as the wave patterns seem to unaffected by gravity.   The post mentions that guanine crystals are the same density as tetrachloroethylene liquid, so the crystals never settle to the bottom.

Somewhat off-topic I guess but is there a way to see an Instagram post without having an account and being logged in?

  Search for 'ig story viewer' or 'ig profile viewer' and you will find some online apps that let you input a username and check their stories/posts. I find they are hit or miss depending on the user (no clue why some work for some and others not)

  Incognito mode + the mobile view thing from the developer console seems to work for me.

  From what I’ve seen, your IP address can view ~3 posts in a 24hr frame before you’re forced to log in. IG has gotten very hostile in that way over the last year. If you scroll far enough on a user profile while logged out, a modal appears for a login. Remove that modal and keep scrolling and IG will begin 503’ing all served images to your IP for 24hrs. Coincidentally, I’m in a foreign country right now and IG “deactivated” my account (presumably because of the change in location). I had to send them a *photo of my face* to open a ticket about it. It’s been a week now with no reply. That combined with the logged out hostility means I don’t have an easy way to view anything on the platform. Maddening.

Off topic: Why do people even share instagram videos? It prompts me to login and I can't even seek, go backward by 10secs etc. I think its a stigma on Instagram fronted developer.

  Because it might be the only place this is posted. Instagram is one of the most popular social media websites in the world, and even if they have a bad interface or block people without accounts, they have interesting and widely-viewed content.

  Instagram is definitely one of the worst offenders of this. You can obviously see it happening with reddit/twitter/etc wanting you to log in but those at least allow you to look at content. Instagram is just a black hole if you aren't logged in.

  If you're making a business out of the content you create (like this page), IG allows you to reach a ton of people.
