Chinese military sends record number of warplanes to test Taiwan’s air defences
- alexnewman 5y agoseems fine . just like freedom of the seas we can have freedom of the air. just freedom of navigation exercises in planes . keeping the air shipping lanes as common entities.
- mytailorisrich 5y agoTaiwan's air defence identification zone actually overlaps continental China, so I assume mainland planes enter it on a daily basis simply by flying on 'their' side of the straight and even over land. Now, the activity as reported in this article takes place over the sea, at the margins of the zone. It's just a game to test the other side and not really newsworthy. It's a shame articles almost never publish the maps of these activities that the ROC military publishes because they are very informative.
- simonblack 5y agoExactly. We note that this overlapping of the mainland is mysteriously never mentioned in these MSM propaganda beatups. This is what really occurred one time when everybody was screaming about those nasty Chinese incursions - nowhere close to Taiwan airspace - but touted as "record intrusions" - https://d.newsweek.com/en/full/1872689/pla-warplanes-buzz-taiwan-amid-weapons-tests.webp?w=790&f=c98cfa448dee29140ab8012cf6391044 https://d.newsweek.com/en/full/1872689/pla-warplanes-buzz-ta...
- thuccess129 5y agoThe fix is in. The West will cry Afghanicrocodile tears once China's Communist Party engulfs the neighbouring stepping stone to deepwater port by force of arms and diplomatic payments to mutual interests. Taiwan's bureaucrats and ruling elitists above will helicopter to waiting naval fleet on a scale to evac-civies never seen before in human history except for the next one.
- simonblack 5y agoIn international airspace. Further away than most USN 'FONOPS'. Bull shit article.
