The problem isn't that you can't put more stuff on it, it's that the contents aren't moving. When the contents of the belt are perfectly homogeneous, this is less of an issue, but if you had a belt full of mixed materials with grabbers configured to pickup only certain materials, those grabbers may never have the opportunity to pick up their configured target because the belt contents don't move once it's full.
- bspammer 5y agoLooped belts are never the best way to do something in factorio anyway. This would only affect people very new to the game, and might give them a hint that there’s a better way.
- flemhans 5y agoIt's also a playstyle, though. People make these 'sushi belts' for fun with different items on them. A somewhat valid use-case is for inserting science packs into labs.
- cesarb 5y ago> A somewhat valid use-case is for inserting science packs into labs. There are seven kinds of science packs in the vanilla game, so without sushi belts, you need four belts to bring all of them to the labs. That can take a lot of space, making it harder to for instance use beacons (which like compact designs since their effect range is limited).
- krzyk 5y agoyou just need to bring those belts to the first LAB. Rest of them can get science by stealing using inserters
