Most viral political tweets (on both sides) are super misleading. I’ve actually twice tweeted incorrect stuff by accident , and those tweets were on the verge of going viral before folks pointed out the error and I deleted/amended the tweet.
(FWIW one tweet was because a budget document itself had a misleading denominator, and the other because of a recent change to a law.)

- commandlinefan 5y ago> on both sides Something tells me that only one side is going to find their likes disabled, though.
- user-the-name 5y agoProbably. Because it is one side and one side only that mostly spreads lies. "Both sides" is bullshit.
- decremental 5y agoMy side told me the other side spreads lies.
- user-the-name 5y agoNo, no "my side" about it. This is simple, objective fact. The American right spreads lies, constantly, every day. Tons of them. Lie after lie. They are not shy about it. There is no "both sides". There is no equivalence. There just isn't.
- MathCodeLove 5y agoThat's what the other side says too
- jdavis703 5y agoIt should be noted the most prominent bans have ban for TOS violations unrelated to misinformation. Even the misinformation bots aren’t banned for misinformation, they’re banned because they’re automated accounts.
- gorwell 5y agoI agree, it's likely over 50%. If Twitter simply labeled viral political tweets as misleading by default, it would be more accurate than the system they are using now.
- tomjen3 5y agoTo be misleading, the tweets would have to make or a imply a claim about something we can measure, which I think is (sadly) already a big hurdle for most political tweets.
