Location: Lisbon Metropolitan Area, Portugal
Remote: Yes
Willing to relocate: Yes/Maybe
Technologies: As a student, I worked with a variety of technologies including Java (incl. Spark), Javascript (incl. node, React, ExpressJS, WebGL), Docker, Python (incl. numpy, Jupyter), C, C++ (incl. CUDA), OCaml, SQL (incl. MySQL, Postgres, Oracle), Linux, REST, and pretty much anything else that's mainstream enough to be expected from a Comp. Sci. degree. Naturally, I have different levels of proficiency with each tool, but I'm confident in my ability to adapt to pretty much any ecosystem and have no technologies that I outright refuse to work with (maybe Oracle DB...).

I graduated in mid 2020 from {FCT-UNL, NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA FCT, ...} with a Master's Degree in Computer Science. After graduating, I tentatively decided to stay at the university for a PhD, but I have come to realise/understand/accept that this was not the best choice for me at this point in my life. Over the past 2 weeks, I started the process of leaving my PhD programme and am now looking to work in the industry.
In terms of previous experience, I'd like to be upfront about never having worked in the industry. What I have done is TA for several courses over the years (= teaching skills), been a volunteer for a bunch of events in the department (= group work skills), and occasionally participated in small-scale and/or academic projects (= programming skills).
In terms of professional interests, my MSc/PhD were broadly related to Programming Languages with a dash of Software Engineering and Distributed Systems. While my interests in C.S. are broad and I am open to any offers, I would prefer to avoid data science/ML and crypto* and would be particularly interested in work related to algorithmics, data structures, optimisation, programming languages, distributed systems, and firmware/low-level software(, and lots more things I'm forgetting right now).
My "go-to" language, at the moment, is Python. I also enjoy using C and OCaml, although I have not used them as much this past year, and Java, although not so much the "enterprise" aspects of its ecosystem.
