The (politics playing) scientists behind this editorial are missing the proverbial forest (nay entire ecosystem of forests) for a single (or couple of trees) they focus in the article. They think that people following the argumentation of B. Shapiro et. al., are just in need of "only-if-you-were-so-educated-informed-as-all-of-us-good-fellas-here-in-the-ivory-tower"...
Framing the dialog as 'Shapiro' vs 'Us-morally-and-intelectual-policically-correct-science-fellas' is adolescent and why phys.org is boastful about it is just telling a much deeper story on its own. Calling to arms an army of like-thinking fellows... simply misguided on a fundamental level.
* no implied support for anything that B. Sh has to say on any topic. It is reaction to the principle behind the reaction to B. Sh. by these pseudo-intelectualls.
