Trigger Warnings are for books what the PMRC's "Parental Advisory: Explicit (Fuckin') Lyrics" stickers were to music. They're a good way for teenage edgelords to find books likely to appeal to them (and shock their parents). That's all they're good for, but IMO that's reason enough to have them. It doesn't matter that they don't serve their intended purpose; if you're so fucked in the head that reading a book can hurt you, then you shouldn't be reading in the first place until you've learned or remembered how to distinguish between fiction and reality.
