The HTML Tax
- cratermoon 5y agoOh so he acknowledges that HTML isn't about layout or visual design (that's why we got rid of elements like <b> and <marquee> and added CSS) but now he wants to push it back in the direction of specifying design and graphic elements?
- blondin 5y agopeople have suggested similar ideas in the past. but we ended up going back to a mix of html and javascript (or typescript). again and again. why we keep going back to html and transpiled javascript to solve web UI is perhaps what we need to figure out. there was a framework that made an impressive demo a few years back. that was before react became popular. i remember the presenter on stage showing a demo of a html canvas-based UI running at 30 frames per seconds. no idea what became of that framework or project.
