I feel like there is a parallel between this and NFTs to be made but I don't think I understand enough about either to phrase it adequately. Superficially though, I believe the price paid for those specific canvases make them "non-fungible" (I don't think the museum would just throw them away now) and I guess one could argue that they qualify as tokens, too.
