I keep hearing people say this as if saying it enough makes it true (thanks, Stalin), but I don't remember ever hearing it, honestly.
Do you have any footage of this? If it was as widespread as claimed, it should be easy to find.

- actually_a_dog 5y agoWhere's the claim that "masks don't work?" He's not saying that. He's saying the general public should not be wearing masks at that time.
- kyleee 5y agoI'd be curious what you think a layperson would take away from the clip if not 'no need to wear a mask, because it won't protect me against covid'
- mywittyname 5y agoEarly on, they didn't know if masks were effective against covid, because of the size of the particles. But they did still recommend them for healthcare workers: https://www.news-medical.net/news/20200130/Do-masks-protect-from-Coronavirus.aspxhttps://www.news-medical.net/news/20200130/Do-masks-protect-from-Coronavirus.aspx https://www.news-medical.net/news/20200130/Do-masks-protect-... They were saying not to buy masks in order to preserve them for healthcare workers. There was already a severe shortage of them. https://news.yahoo.com/cdc-warns-save-respirator-masks-for-healthcare-workers-162144855.html https://news.yahoo.com/cdc-warns-save-respirator-masks-for-h...
- michaelcampbell 5y agoNeither of which was "don't work".
- mywittyname 5y agoOh, agreed. I was just providing links to stories from the time and letting the reader decide if they are being accurately recounted.
