I wouldn't say all train professionals knew this. I talked to doctors about Theranos and they were impressed by them and were bullish. It may be they didn't look too much into it. Context: I was approached by a recruiter and I couldn't understand how Theranos distinguished itself from other labs or get any data when I tried to do diligence on their claims.
