Is it possible something else happened in 2020 that might cause a change in crime rates? While not as drastic as in the USA, there is a common pattern in many countries. Total reported crime rate decreased. But murders went up. 8% in Canada, 8% in South Africa, 4% in Germany. Edit: Previously stated Japan went up incorrectly.
