Your assumption that we will be hiring gasoline or carbon to generate the mains power is flawed. Also over an EV’s total lifetime it is significantly less polluting than an ICE even including manufacturing. And the automakers are already finding ways to avoid rare earths etc precisely because they are so expensive.
