Reminds me of the American's reaction to Soviets spies stealing shuttle plans to copy it with the Buran.
Long story short, they made sure the soviets found "updated schematics" with hidden flaws and design defects. [0]

- RcouF1uZ4gsC 5y agoThen again the US Space Shuttle was super expensive for what it did. Maybe having the Soviets copy the Space Shuttle was enough to lead to the collapse of their economy.
- fidesomnes 5y agoNo that was the result of the lack of profit motive in state industries and the geopolitical failure of the invasion of Afghanistan. Neither mistake is made by China.
- redis_mlc 5y agoThe main design defect of the Shuttle was burying rocket engines inside the Shuttle itself, making each refurbishment an engine rebuild. But the Soviets didn't make that mistake. Also they mounted Buran higher on the launch vehicle, so avoided tile issues.
