How should we deal with our failure in Afghanistan?
- aurizon 5y agoLook at the parallel between the US and Vietnam. Both were ruled by colonial dictatorships(AKA Kings). In 1776 the USA revolted against their King - at that time. Now 220 years later Vietnam was ruled by a French colonial dictatorship on the ground in Vietnam, yet who professed to be a democracy in Europe - but not in Vietnam - they were hated. The USA supported the French - is it any wonder the Vietnamese natives supported anyone who could have torn the French off their back, then a local dictatorships of grafting generals took over - with US support. Repeat in Afghanistan - the native populace supported their fellows. The warlords that run Afghanistan were crooked grafters, and just like Vietnam, as soon as the USA left, the locals took over. Why does the USA feel a kinship that goes against the spirit of 1776 - crooked and corrupt leaders are supported - does this tar the USA with a similar corrupt aspect? We deal with it by electing a better grade of leaders, cracker jack prizes will no longer cut it...;)
