I've been doing stuff on neocities.org lately. It reminds me what I love about making the internet.
I pay the monthly $5 fee for 50gb, and I have no complaints yet. And if I ever have a product idea -- their website is open source, so I can just fork their project and make my own business.
- quickthrower2 5y agoHosting companies selling 3 years for $150 of traditional PHP shared hosting are still around. I love how skills I learned 15 years ago still work on these and it feels closer to the older web. Probably can run Perl on them! Also a PHP file on one of these is close to “serverless” - it’s a lot simpler doesn’t change its UI and API every 5 minutes like Azure
