I've been using Lion since the early DP releases and I've never had auto-termination kick in. I tend to leave apps open for very long periods of time. GarageBand has been running for at least 2 weeks and it's still running. I know it's been at least a week since I used it last. This machine has a lot of RAM so possibly it's working off the amount of free memory available? If so that seems like a smart feature to me. If you have 8-12GB of RAM you'll probably never see auto-termination in action. If you have 4GB you'll see it now and again. If you have 2GB you'll see it a lot but your machine will likely be running much better. On my old MacBook Air with 2GB the first thing I did when it got bogged down was to quit unused applications so...
